Agreement to Terms

By using this website, submitting a reservation form, booking a consultation, or purchasing any service from Daniella Marie Beta Reading Services (“I,” “me,” “my”), you (“you,” “the client”) agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or purchase services.

Services Offered

I provide professional beta reading services for unpublished manuscripts. Services include reading your manuscript and providing feedback through a Reader’s Report, in-line comments, and follow-up consultation calls, depending on the package selected.

I am a beta reader, not a developmental editor, copy editor, or proofreader. My feedback reflects a reader’s experience and perspective. It is not a substitute for professional editing services. I do not rewrite, restructure, or correct manuscripts.

How Services Work

Reservation and intake: You submit a reservation form through this website providing details about your manuscript, including title, genre, word count, draft stage, trigger warnings, and service preferences. Submission of the reservation form does not constitute a purchase.

Quote and confirmation: After reviewing your reservation form, I will contact you with a confirmation and, for Build Your Own reads, a custom quote based on your manuscript’s word count and selected options. For standard packages, pricing is as listed on the Services page.

Payment: Payment is required before work begins. All payments are processed through Square. Accepted payment methods are listed on the FAQ page.

Turnaround: Most beta reads are completed within 10–14 days from the project start date, depending on manuscript length and package. Reaction Reads and the Strong Start Package are delivered in 10 days. Premium Reads, In-Line Comment Reads, and full-manuscript packages are delivered in 14–15 days. Drafts exceeding 120,000 words may require additional time. Every project comes with a confirmed completion date at the start.

Delivery: Feedback is delivered as a Reader’s Report and, where applicable, in-line comments within a shared Google Doc or Word document, according to your formatting preference. Follow-up calls are scheduled after delivery through Square Appointments.

Client Responsibilities

To ensure the best possible service, you agree to:

Provide accurate information about your manuscript on the reservation form, including genre, word count, and content warnings
Submit your manuscript in a readable format (Google Doc or Word document, standard formatting)
Communicate any deadlines, concerns, or special requests before work begins
Respond to communications within a reasonable timeframe to keep the project on schedule

I reserve the right to decline a project if the manuscript contains content I am unable to engage with constructively, or if the project scope significantly differs from what was described on the reservation form. In such cases, a full refund will be issued.

Intellectual Property

Your manuscript is your property. Submitting your manuscript for beta reading does not transfer any rights, ownership, or claims to me. I do not retain any rights to your work.

My feedback is my property. The Reader’s Report, in-line comments, and any written notes I provide are my original work product. You are free to use my feedback to revise your manuscript in any way you choose, but you may not reproduce, republish, or redistribute my Reader’s Reports or written feedback in full without my permission. Brief excerpts used in testimonials or reviews are welcome with attribution.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts and project materials submitted to me are treated as strictly confidential. I will not share your manuscript, notes, or project details with any third party. Your work will never be shared with AI tools, language models, or other readers. All feedback is generated entirely by me.

I retain a copy of your manuscript and notes only for the duration of the project and a reasonable period afterward (typically 1 year) to support follow-up questions. After that period, your files are permanently deleted unless you request otherwise.

Testimonials and Reviews

If you choose to provide a testimonial or review, I may use it on this website and in marketing materials with your first name and last initial only (e.g., “Miriam M.”). I will never use your full name, manuscript title, or plot details in any public-facing material without your explicit written permission.

If you would like a testimonial removed, contact me and I will remove it within 7 business days.

Refunds and Cancellations

Services can be postponed or rescheduled at any time without a fee.

Before your service start date: A full refund is available.
After work has begun: A 50% refund is available.
After the Reader’s Report is complete: No refunds are available.

Rush fees are non-refundable once work has begun.

Consultations

Free 15-minute consultations are available to discuss your project and determine whether my services are a good fit. Consultations are booked through Square Appointments. A consultation does not obligate you to purchase any service.

Communication

Primary communication for active projects is conducted via email. I aim to respond to all inquiries within 2 business days. Follow-up calls are scheduled through Square Appointments and conducted via video call.

I do not provide feedback or revision guidance via text message or social media direct messages.

The content on this website, including page copy, blog posts, and educational materials, is provided for informational purposes. While I strive to provide accurate and helpful guidance on beta reading, revision, and the publishing process, nothing on this site constitutes professional publishing, legal, or financial advice.

Blog posts and articles reflect my personal experience and professional opinion. Writing and publishing outcomes vary.

Limitation of Liability

I provide beta reading feedback based on my professional experience and reader perspective. Feedback is inherently subjective. I do not guarantee any specific outcome, including publication, agent representation, book sales, or reader reception.

My total liability for any claim arising from services provided is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service in question.

Third-Party Services

This website uses third-party services including Square (payments and booking), Google Analytics (website analytics), WPForms (form processing), and Bluehost (hosting). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. I am not responsible for the practices or policies of third-party providers.

Changes to These Terms

I may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. The terms in effect at the time of your purchase apply to your transaction. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any disputes arising from these terms or from services provided will be resolved in the courts of the State of Florida.
